What inspires love?
What Inspires Love?
What inspires love
when love is hard to see?
When cruelty walks openly
and kindness bends the knee?
Does night extinguish every star,
or only veil its light?
Is nothing there beyond the reach
of your accustomed sight?
Open the eye behind the eye,
the ear beneath the ear.
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
Fine-tune the heart to hidden things
that ordinary senses cannot hear.
For what we see of love may be
one color of its light—
a narrow band of radiance
within a spectrum bright.
But is there truly love enough
for all the grief we bear?
So many hearts are breaking—
where is Love hiding there?
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
Must power always look like force
before you call it strong?
Does the root cease to shape the earth
because it works unseen and long?
Then Love may move beneath the wound
before the wound has healed?
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
What if the smallest act of care
is greater than it has revealed?
Open the eye behind the eye,
the ear beneath the ear.
Fine-tune the heart to hidden things
that ordinary senses cannot hear.
For what we see of love may be
one color of its light—
a narrow band of radiance
within a spectrum bright.
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
What can Love do against the cruel,
the foolish, and the blind?
Can gentleness confront the harm
that ignorance leaves behind?
Does Love mean yielding to the hand
that strikes the innocent?
Or might Love stand before the blow
and still refuse contempt?
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
Does Love pretend the lie is true
to keep an empty peace?
Or does it name the wound aloud
so suffering may cease?
Then Love is more than tenderness?
What tenderness would turn away?
Can Love be Love and fail to guard
the life that fear would slay?
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
Perhaps we looked for Love as fire
descending from above.
Perhaps we missed its quieter forms
and called the world unloved.
If eyes perceive a narrow light,
is all the darkness bare?
If ears receive one range of sound,
has music left the air?
What waits beyond your present sense?
What moves beneath your knowing?
And if you tuned your heart more finely,
what might you find there growing?
How do we learn to see this Love
that lives beyond our view?
What happens when you still the voice
that says you already knew?
What happens when you meet a face
without your ancient fear?
When judgment loosens its command,
what hidden truth draws near?
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
The stranger grows familiar.
The distant grief comes near.
A life we passed without a thought
becomes profoundly dear.
Did Love arrive that very hour,
or did a veil depart?
Perhaps the Love was always there,
awaiting a finer heart.
Open the eye behind the eye,
the ear beneath the ear.
Fine-tune the heart to hidden things
already moving here.
For what we see of Love may be
one color of its light—
a narrow band of radiance
within a spectrum bright.
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
No single heart contains it all,
no single life can prove
the height, the depth, the reach, the strength,
the unseen whole of Love.
And now, Dear Ones, tell me—
what inspires Love?
The Love we learn to recognize
awakens Love in us.
And what was absent?
Not Love.
Then what?
The eyes to see it.
Listen up, Listen up, Look up, Dear Ones!
Love was not waiting to be born.
Love was waiting to be seen.
