I'm feeling the love.
I’m Feeling the Love
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Dear ones, come closer.
Bring everything you’ve seen—
Every door kicked open,
Every shattered street and dream.
I will not perfume the smoke.
I will not say the wound is good.
I am looking at the darkness,
And yet,
I’m feeling the love.
Dear Master, have you seen the world?
Have you heard the breaking glass?
People crushed beneath the present,
People haunted by the past.
And beyond our little planet,
Stars explode and worlds collide.
The universe seems born in fire—
Where is love in all that night?
Dear Ones,
I never called the violence sacred.
I never said the blood was blessed.
A star has never built a prison.
Gravity has never made an arrest.
No collision gives us license.
No black hole has aimed a gun.
Do not call our cruelty nature
Or excuse what we have done.
I’m feeling the love.
I’m feeling the love,
with my eyes completely open.
I can see what has been broken.
I can see what carries on.
I’m holding the love—
Not a blindfold, not a drug.
The horror is real.
It isn’t all!
I’m feeling the love.
I’m feeling the love.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I thank the Creator and All My Relations
When, I walk out my door each morning.
No monsters wait to swallow me.
Someone waves me through the crossing.
Someone fights for me to be free.
Someone feeds a frightened animal.
Someone calls a lonely friend.
A million small and nameless mercies
Keep the world from meeting its end.
They seldom make the headlines.
Kindness has no siren song.
But ordinary human goodness
Is how anything carries on.
Dear Master,
are those rose-colored glasses?
Are you turning from the pain?
Does love become another shelter
For the lucky and the safe?
These lenses have no blinders.
They let every sorrow in.
I’m wearing black,
I feel the pain.
But fear can crop the picture
Till the worst is all we see.
So I choose a wider angle:
Every wound—and every hand
Reaching out to tend the wounded,
Standing where another cannot stand.
Love does not deny the fire.
Love is what walks through the flame.
Love remembers every stranger.
Love keeps calling every name.
Thank you for calling me up.
For letting me on the Love Bus
For reminding me what is real.
I hear you
I feel you
Thank you for your Loving Kindness.
Thank you for what you make me feel.
I’m feeling the love.
I’m feeling the love,
With my eyes completely open.
I can see what has been broken.
I can see what carries on.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm
I’m holding the love—
Not an alibi or drug.
The horror is real.
It isn’t all!
I’m feeling the love.
When my own flame falls to embers,
My friends shield it from the wind.
One says, “I have warmth to spare.”
One says, “Start with mine again.”
Another says,
“Here is rescue,
here is love,
I’m here for you.”
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We are torches for each other.
We are runners with the sacred flame,
Calling out across the distance,
Answering each other’s names.
That is how I hold the love.
That is how the love holds me.
Not a theory of the heavens—
A living choice, continually.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
We’re feeling the love,
With our eyes completely open.
We will tend to what is broken.
We will carry what carries on.
We’re keeping the love.
We’re passing it from hand to hand.
The darkness is real—
But so are we,
And here we stand.
I feel it.
We feel it.
Hold it.
Share it.
Keep your eye upon the love.
Keep your hands around the flame.
The horror is real.
It isn’t all!
And love—
Love is calling every name.
