Fly Me to That Love

FLY ME TO THAT LOVE

Ummmmmmmm…

Master of Love…
Teach us how to fly.

Dear Ones…
What makes you think
you are not flying now?

But we are standing still!

Are you?

The Earth is turning
and circling the Sun.
The Sun crosses the galaxy.
Nothing in this Universe
is standing still.

Then we are already flying?

You have been flying
all your lives.

The question is not
whether we fly—
but how.

With our eyes wide open.
With our hearts switched on.

Then fly, Dear Ones.

Fly me to that Love!

Not away from this world,
but deeper into it.

Eyes wide open,
heart switched on—

Fly me to that Love!

Ummmmmmmm…

Why is there
so much resistance?

What does a wing
do with the air?

It meets it.

And the air pushes back.

And from that meeting?

Lift.

No resistance…
(No lift.)

But do not mistake
every opposing wind
for failure.

Learn the shape
of your wings.

Learn when to rise,
when to turn,
and what the wind
is teaching you.

Turn your wings
into the wind—

Fly me to that Love!

The Love that doesn’t
curse the wind,
but learns the art of rising.

Ummmmmmmm…

Master of Love…
How high should we fly?

High enough
to see the whole.

Then higher?

Not necessarily.

Fly too low
and the trouble before you
may become the whole world.

Fly too high
and the people below you
may disappear.

Then what is
the altitude of Love?

High enough
to see the pattern.

Low enough
to see the person.

High enough
to see the war.

Low enough
to see the child.

So flight is not escape?

Never.

Do not use the heavens
to hide from the Earth.

Rise
so you can see more.

Eyes wide open…
(Heart switched on.)

Give me altitude
without indifference,
perspective
without distance—

Fly me to that Love!

Ummmmmmmm…

Out among the stars,
how will we know
where to go?

(By looking toward the light.)

Sometimes
the farther the star,
the more faithfully
you can steer by it.

Then is Love
our guiding star?

Love can be the star.
The compass.
The map.
The co-pilot.
The passenger.
The destination.

(All of them?)

Perhaps even
the sky
through which you fly.

Can Love cross
the Universe?

Love already does.

Across a thousand miles,
you can Love someone here.

Across a hundred years,
Love can still reach you.

Plant a tree today
for someone not yet born,
and Love has traveled
into tomorrow.

Then Love can fly
without wings?

Dear Ones…

Love may be
the oldest form of flight.

Across the miles,
across the years,
by the light
of distant stars—

Fly me to that Love!

Ummmmmmmm…

We have the wings,
the wind.
and the stars.

Are we ready?

Not yet.

What are we missing?

Your empennage.

Our what?

Even Love
needs a tail.

Why?

Because Love
needs balance,
stability,
direction—
and sometimes
Love needs
to change direction.

The stabilizer
keeps you steady.

The elevator
changes your altitude.

The fin
keeps you true.

The rudder
lets you turn.

But shouldn’t Love
always stay its course?

Not when
the course is wrong.

What if our Love
is hurting someone?
Use the rudder.

What if we were wrong?
Use the rudder.

What if pride
takes the controls?
Use the rudder.

Listen.
Look.
Check your star.

And if you are wrong—

Turn.

Rudderless Love…
(Is dangerous Love.)

Feeling without structure
is not enough.

Love needs more
than wings.

Love needs
a way to steer.

Love with structure.
Love that turns.

Fly me to that Love.

Ummmmmmmm…

Then Master of Love…
Where are we going?

You still think
Love is somewhere
you have to reach?

But we have been singing—

Fly me to that Love!

And where have you been
all this time?

Flying!

What gave you lift?
(Resistance)

What helped you see?
(Altitude)

What showed you the way?
(The light)

What kept you true?
(Structure)

And where was Love?

In the wind?
In the wings?
In the stars?
In the people below?

Yes.

Then Love
was with us
all along.

Now you are learning
how to fly!

Fly me to that Love!

Eyes wide open…
(Heart switched on…)

High enough to see the whole…
(Low enough to see us all…)

Turn my wings into the wind…
(Let the resistance lift me…)

Give my Love a rudder…
(Keep me true, and let me turn…)

Fly me to that Love!

Master of Love…
When do we arrive?

When the way
you travel
becomes the place
you were trying
to reach.

Fly me to that Love!

Eyes wide open.

Heart switched on.

Fly me to that Love!
