LOVE ALL AROUND
Love All Around
I went looking for love in the distance,
Past the moon, past the edge of the blue,
But the stars drew a circle around me—
Every arc led me closer to you.
Every planet was leaning and listening,
Every ocean was pulled by the sound,
And the heart I had sent through the heavens
Came singing the long way around.
If love is all around you,
Why did you search the skies?
Was I looking to discover love—
Or hoping to be recognized?
Where does a circle begin?
Where did you enter?
Where does a circle end?
Why must it end?
There’s a rhythm beneath what we know,
An invisible river that carries us home…
To the center of the circle.
To where love abounds.
Love is all around,
Turning without end,
Drawing every wandering heart
Into orbit again.
We are lyrical, spherical,
Miracles in motion—
Little worlds of gravity
In one great ocean.
Is love what holds us together?
Or what gives us room to move?
Love is all around—
But what is love?
We are dust with a dream at the center,
We are stones learning how to be stars;
We are held by the pull of each other,
Though we’re light-years apart where we are.
Every word makes a wave through the silence,
Every kindness keeps circling on;
What we give to the space in between us
Comes back as the shape of a song.
If love returns in another form,
Is it still the love I gave?
Must it return to belong to you?
Must it be yours to be saved?
How close must two souls come?
Can closeness be measured by distance?
Can I hold you without possessing you?
Can an open hand hold more?
There’s a harmony no ear can own—
We enter together, but no one sings alone.
Love is all around,
Turning without end,
Drawing every wandering heart
Into orbit again.
We are lyrical, spherical,
Miracles in motion—
Little worlds of gravity
In one great ocean.
Is love a kind of gravity?
Or gravity love by another name?
Love is all around—
Are the pull and the promise the same?
If every heart is a center,
Where is the edge?
If everyone stands at the center,
Who stands outside?
What is the difference
Between an orbit and a cage?
Can you leave?
Can you change?
If the planets make music
No ear can hear—
Is it still music?
If a heart loves silently,
Is the love less real?
Is silence empty?
Or is silence listening?
Are we singing the universe?
Or is the universe singing us?
Circle in—
Gather ’round.
Every soul
A sacred sound.
Tone to tone
And sphere to sphere,
What moves the stars—
Is it moving here?
You are the center,
You are the wave,
You are the question
Another heart gave.
No outside,
No lost and found—
Only love
Going round.
Do you see me?
Do you see us?
Do you see who I am—
Or who you need me to be?
If I show you love,
Will you know its face?
Will you recognize love
In an unfamiliar shape?
What does love ask of us?
What are we willing to give?
What does love make of us?
What are we willing to become?
Love is all around,
Older than the sun,
Turning all our separate songs
Into something one.
We are lyrical, spherical,
Infinite and near—
Each of us an epicenter,
Each of us a sphere.
Love is all around—
I can feel it now.
I see love in everything…
Do you see me now?
If we see the love within you,
Will you see it in us too?
Round and round,
Sound by sound,
The universe keeps singing—
Love abounds.
Love resounds.
Love is all around.
Is that the answer?
Or where the question begins?
